Anomie - Dystopian Sci-Fi Drama (109 Pages)
With eight years left before a black hole annihilates humanity, a young couple must deal with an unintentional pregnancy in a society that demonizes birth.
Two childhood friends, JAMES CORSTONE and AMI AOZORA, grow up in a world of despair and certain death from a black hole that will consume the Earth over the course of twenty years. During this time new social norms take hold, including the belief of the vast majority that giving birth to a child who has no hope of a future is akin to murder. While not outright illegal, pregnancy is deeply frowned upon, as abortion is viewed by some in today's world.
Despite the ramifications of keeping the child, Ami finds she has little left to live for other than the hope that her child will brighten her life. She sets out to convince James to ignore the constant propaganda from the government, so he will see the beauty and hope the child could bring into their lives, even as the world falls apart around them.
